FOUR OTHER GAY-HATE CRIMES BEING INVESTIGATED BY NSW POLICE AFTER SCOTT JOHNSON MURDER CHARGE

William Allen was found dead in his Newton Street home on December 29, 1988 with several head injuries which he sustained the previous evening in Alexandria Park.
He was driven by a passing motorist who spotted him with blood over his hands and face.
The retired school teacher, who worked at Newington College, said he was bashed and kicked to the ground by "a couple of Aboriginal boys" who then took his keys and money.
At the time of his murder, he was under investigation for cultivating and selling cannabis to young males for sex and was known to frequent a gay beat at Alexandria Park.
There were no clear suspects, but NSW Police noted the circumstances around his death were similar to the later murder of Richard Johnson in 1990, which led to the conviction of the "Alexandria Eight", who bashed him to death.
Police retrospectively investigated the eight offenders — aged 16 to 18 — but did not have enough evidence to charge anyone with Allen's murder.
