23-year-old Leura woman Maureen McLaughlin was last seen at a Hotel on Main Street Lithgow on the 31st of March 1992. It is believed she then caught a taxi home. Her body was found weeks later in a shallow grave at an abandoned mine site off State Mine Gully Road. Maureen had attended an RSL club in Katoomba on the 30th of March where she had made three separate ATM withdrawals. She caught a taxi back home then left again shortly after. She was then reported missing to police by her father on the 3rd of April 1992. On the 13th of April 1992, police received a report from a bushwalker who had discovered a body in a shallow grave off State Mine Gully Road. The body was identified as Maureen, who had numerous injuries to her head and body. 


Reward​

There is a $200,000 dollar reward. Minister Gallacher says "The slightest piece of information could help detectives put the puzzle together to solve this case, so I'd encourage anyone with information, no matter how small to come forward"
